On January 21, our clinic director Beth Cowper-Fung, along with other members from AFHTO and government relations rep Matt, met with the Minister of Health – Hon. Christine Elliott to promote team-based care. They discussed the importance of the team-based model for quality, access, satisfaction and overall cost savings.

Thank you to everyone who filled out a satisfaction survey for us. Here is a summary of the results.

 89% of you felt that you had a reasonable wait time to obtain an appointment the last time you were sick or were concerned you had a health problem and needed to see the Nurse Practitioner.

54% of you were able to see a Nurse Practitioner on the same or next day when you called and needed to see your Nurse Practitioner because of sickness or a health problem  (the Ontario average is 39.9% and Central LHIN average is 43.1%).

96% of you felt that your Nurse Practitioner always or often involved you, as much as you wanted to be, in decisions about your care and treatment.

86% of you said you were able to see your own NP when you were sick or concerned you had a health problem.

99% of you rated your experience with Georgina Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic as excellent or very good.

60% of you were aware that in the past year, the GNPLC ran the following programs:
• Healthy You
• One Step Closer -Smoking Cessation
• Diabetes Conversations
• Mind Your Mood
• GLA:D Osteoarthritis Program
• Women’s Wellness
• Chronic Pain Self Management
• Infant CPR

Today marks the one year anniversary of the fire at our clinic on Dalton Road. Over the year, we have worked tirelessly to set up our temporary office to ensure minimal disruption to our services. The Georgina Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic had a fantastic visit from this group of policy makers and educators from Berlin, Germany on October 23, 2018. We had great learning and conversations related to the training and need for other health care professionals in Ontario, incorporating technology in healthcare, and the reorganization of home care. Most importantly, we shared about the strengths of our model of care as a Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic, as well as other team based primary care models.

Beth Cowper-Fung, Clinic Director of Georgina Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic, met this week with PC Candidate Caroline Mulroney and the Association of Psychologists of Ontario to lobby for greater integration of mental health services in primary care, especially in the Town of Georgina.
